Hosts Dominican Republic won men's and women's gold at the Pan American Taekwondo Union Pan American Team Kyorugi Championships in Santo Domingo.

The men's team consisted of Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medallist Luisito Pié, Bernardo Pié and Cristopher Reyes Pié - all brothers - as well as Jeurys de los Santos and Wander González.

The Dominican Republic overcame Canada 100-47 in the semi-finals to set up a final against Brazil at the Ricardo Gioriver Arias Volleyball Palace.

The host nation defeated the Brazilians 97-66 to claim the continental crown.

In the women's event, the Dominican Republic was represented by Naomi Victor, Andrealis Bonilla, Madeline Rodriguez and Mayelin Mejía.

They beat Canada 140-82 in the final.

The Pan American Team Kyorugi Championships formed part of the Dominican Open, offering qualification points for the El Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Men's and women's team kyorugi events are set to feature at the Pan American Games for the first time in Chile's capital Santiago later this year.
