In the women's under-50-kilograms division, 2021 world champion Remina Yoshimoto was a convincing 7-0 victor over Jasmina Immaeva of Uzbekistan to retain her title in the Kazakh capital.

Miran Cheon of South Korea and Feng Ziqi of China took bronze in the division.

In the women's under-59kg class there was further Japanese success for Yui Sakano.

She had only lost twice all season and defeated China’s Zhuomalaga Zhuomalaga 5-1 to take gold in her debut Asian Championships.

Kalmira Bilimbek Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan defeated home fighter Diana Kayumova to claim the only bronze in the division.

Ami Ishii who won world silver in 2021, was returning after injury. 

She defeated India's Nisha Dahiya 10–0 to win her first Asian gold in the under-68kg class but perhaps the most significant of her three wins came in the semi final against 2021 world champion and Olympic bronze medallist Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan. 

China’s Zhou Feng took bronze.

Zhumanazarova appeared to have been been injured and did not emerge for the other bronze medal bout so victory went to Kazakhstan's Yelena Shalygina.

China's Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Pang Qianyu of China won her second Asian gold medal seven years after her first. 

Pang defeated Chinboldyn Otgontuyaa of Mongolia 6-3 in the under-55kg category.

Marina Sedneva of Kazakhstan collected her second Asian bronze medal at the weight along with Rino Kataoka of Japan.

Later in the evening, Elmira Syzdykova of Kazakhstan gave the home fans something to cheer when she beat last year's champion Aiperi Medet Kyzy from Kyrgyzstan by a margin of 5-0 to claim gold in the under-76kg class.

Bronze went to Priya Priya of India and Juan Wang of China.

Competition continues tomorrow in the remaining women's weight divisions.
