Timi Zajc of Slovenia produced the best jump of the second round to win the final event of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation Ski Jumping World Cup season by 0.1 points in Planica.

The ski flying final, featuring the best 30 athletes took place on the men’s HS240 hill, with Zajc winning with 455.1 points overall.

After sitting fifth following the first round Zajc, who won individual and team large hill gold in the World Championships at the same location this year, produced a second-round jump of 234.0 metres.

This earned him 235.9 points, and proved enough to take the win by the narrowest of margins.

Second place went to his compatriot Anze Lanisek who finished on 455.0 points, after recording the highest scoring jump of round one with a 239.5 metres leap earning him 224.1 points.

Lanisek produced a jump of 242 metres in round two, earning him 230.9 points, but it was not quite enough to overtake Zajc.

Stefan Kraft of Austria, who won both team and individual golds in the space of two hours yesterday, had to settle for bronze on this occasion.

Kraft’s jumps of 238.5 and 235.0 metres scored him 221.2 and 223.9 points respectively, as he finished third with a points total of 445.1.

Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud, who had already secured the overall World Cup title, ended top of the overall standings with 2,128 points.

Kraft followed in second on 1,790, just in front of Lanisek on 1,679. 

Kraft was able to clinch the overall Ski Flying World Cup title following his superior result to Granerud today, winning with 480 points.

Granerud finished second with 450 points, with Lanisek in third on 314.
