Odermatt finished 2.11 seconds in front of second placed Henrik Kristoffen of Norway to earn his seventh win in 10 giant slalom events in the 2022-2023 season.

He broke the record set by Austria's Hermann Maier, who was the first ever skier to reach 2,000 points.

The 25-year-old won the overall title with 13 wins and nine podiums in 26 races.

"I have no idea how I won, I was so tired. We partied hard on Thursday," said Odermatt.

"Today wasn’t easy because of those damn 2,000 points. 

"I really wanted the podium today. 

"So, another victory, two seconds ahead, I don’t know what to say.

“It means a lot. The past days I said it was not so important, just numbers. 

"The important things are Globes, but now I felt the pressure today. 

"So I knew it was more important than I said, so I am happy I got it." 

Odermatt now joins an illustrious group of skiers who have 13 wins in a season, a list that includes Ingemar Stenmark, Marcel Hirscher and Maier.

Austria's Marco Schwarz rounded off the podium, taking third in the race only 2.29 seconds behind the leader.

In the women's competition, Vlhova, the reigning Olympic slalom champion, won her second slalom event as she secured victory in a time of 1min 51.38sec.

"You know my season was up and down and just, I don’t want to say just, but just one victory this season in slalom, some podiums," said Vlhova.

"The last race I was DNF (did not finish) but I felt good, so I wanted to come here, to show my skiing in the last races and to have a good feeling for the next season."

In second was Leona Popovic of Croatia,  who was 0.43 seconds behind Vlhova, while the overall champion Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States claimed third.
