European champion Lorena Wiebes of the Netherlands delivered despite last-minute changes to the course to win her third straight Ronde van Drenthe title.

Some 60 kilometres had to be lopped off from the 150km route as organisers were forced to delay the start due to snow.

However, the Team SD Worx rider completed her hat-trick, adapting to the change and crossing the line in 2 hours and 29:13 minutes.

"It’s always hectic, but we took control after the last time up the VAMberg," Wiebes told Cycling News after the win.

"The team positioned me really well, I was in a good position into the last roundabout.

"I was a bit in doubt if I should go on the left or the right side, but in the end, I found a space on the right and could sprint fully."

With the win, the 23-year-old is now on level with compatriot and London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Marianne Vos for three Ronde van Drenthe titles.

Vos won the 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions.

Susanne Andersen of Norway and Uno-X finished second, a bike-length behind.

Wiebes' compatriot Maike van der Duin of Canyon-SRAM took the final podium spot.

Last month at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Wiebes finsihed second behind home star Lotte Kopecky.

The next race on the International Cycling Union Women's World Tour is the Trofeo Alfredo Binda-Comune di Cittiglio, scheduled for March 19.
