World Rowing (FISA) will consult its members tomorrow on the question of the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

FISA President Jean-Christophe Rolland will seek the views of the National Federations during two videoconferences scheduled for February 21, L'Equipe reports.

Following the International Olympic Committee’s decision to "explore ways" for Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics as "neutrals", the FISA Council addressed the issue.

It decided to "conduct an evaluation and explore the appropriate criteria that would be required to potentially authorise the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in qualifying competitions for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris."

FISA have not issued a timeframe for a final decision only saying it "will be made in due course."

FISA has time to decide since the first tickets for Paris 2024 will be issued during the World Championships, scheduled to be held in Belgrade from September 3 to 10.

Other federations - such as the International Fencing Federation (FIE), whose Paris 2024 qualifications are due to start in April - will need to address the issue more urgently.

To this end, the FIE has convened an Extraordinary Congress, scheduled for March 10.
