Nadezhda Dubovitskaya delivered women’s high jump gold on the final day of the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Astana.

The world indoor bronze medallist led a Kazakhstan one-two-three, with her best jump of 1.89 metres sealing the title.

Kristina Ovchinnikova also jumped 1.89m but had to settle for silver after three failed attempts at previous heights.

Yelizaveta Matveyeva completed a Kazakhstan clean sweep when she sealed bronze with 1.84.

The men’s high jump title went to Japan’s Ryoichi Akamatsu after going over at 2.28m.

He defeated world indoor champion Woo Sang-hyeok of South Korea who came second with 2.24.

Majd Eddin Ghazal of Syria claimed his fifth Asian Championships medal with bronze after posting 2.24.

There was plenty of medal success for Japan on the final day in Astana as Yuma Maruyama topped a men’s heptathlon one-two.

Maruyama achieved gold with 5,801 points, beating Keisuke Okuda who claimed silver with 5,497.

Janry Ubas of the Philippines came third with 5,246.

Japan’s other gold medal came in the women’s long jump where Sumire Hata triumphed with 6.64m.

Yingying Huang of China posted 6.43 for silver, while Darya Reznichenko of Uzbekistan bagged bronze with 6.37.

Lin Yu-Tang of Chinese Taipei secured men’s long jump with 8.02m as Jeswin Aldrin of India sealed silver with 7.97 and Zhang Mingkun of China earned bronze with 7.92.

Hussain Assem Al-Hizam of Saudi Arabia captured the men’s pole vault crown with 5.45m.

Qatar’s Seifeldin Mohamed Abdelsalam finished second with 5.35m - the same height as Patsapong Amsam-ang of Thailand who picked up bronze.

There was delight for Qatar in the men’s 3,000m as two-time Asian Games champion Mohamad Al-Garni triumphed in 7min 55.25sec.

Keita Sato of Japan crossed the line in 7:56.41 for silver as Shadrack Kimutai Koech of Kazakhstan claimed bronze in 7:59.84.

Ebrahim Remaid Al-Zofairi of Kuwait and Wu Hongjiao of China won the respective men’s and women’s 800m titles.

Al-Zofairi triumphed in 1:49.33 ahead of Qatari duo Abdirahman Saeed Hassan and Musaeb Abdulrahman Balla who posted 1:49.58 and 1:49.68 respectively for the other two podium spots.

Wu was crowned champion after crossing in 2:06.85.

Japan’s Ayano Shiomi sealed silver in 2:07.18 as Xinyu Rao of China completed the podium in 2:08.75.
