Under-20 world champion Sharifa Davronova was among the winners on the second day of the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Kazakhstan's capital Astana.

Davronova of Uzbekistan recorded her best result on her first jump with 13.98 metres at the Athletics Sports Complex Qazaqstan to take gold in the women's triple jump.

Mariko Morimoto of Japan was second with 13.66m from her penultimate jump, with China's Chen Ting third with 13.52m.

There was success for host nation Kazakhstan, with Elina Mikhina winning the women's 400 metres in 54.07sec.

She finished second at the last edition of the event held in Iran's capital Tehran in 2018.

Vietnam's Nguyễn Thị Huyền was 0.60 off the pace in second, with Indonesia's Sri Maya Sari third on 54.88.

There was a double success for Japan on the second day of the meeting.

Kazuto Iizawa clocked 3min 42.83sec in the men's 1500m to beat Qatari duo Mohamad Al-Garni and Musab Adam Ali who notched 3:43.39 and 3:43.42 respectively, while Mayu Nasu won the women's pole vault.

Nasu and India's Pavithra Vengatesh both cleared 4.00 metres, but the latter had to settle for silver after requiring two attempts on her first height of 3.80m.

Rosy Meena Paulraj doubled India's presence on the podium by clearing 3.90m on her third attempt.

Jeong Yu-Sun of South Korea won the day's other field event, throwing 16.98m on her fourth attempt in the women's shot put.

Lee Soo-jung made it a South Korean one-two with 16.45m, with Indonesia's Eki Febri Ekawati third in 15.44m.

Nguyễn Thị Oanh of Vietnam claimed women's 1500 metres victory in 4:15.55, staving off Japan's Yume Goto who notched 4:19.25 and Kazakhstan's Akbayan Nurmamet in 4:21.31.

Ammar Ismail Ibrahim of Qatar edged out Kazkahstan's Mikhail Litvin by 0.14 to take men's 400m gold in 46.25, with China's Fan Tianrui completing the podium in 47.30.

Bangladesh's Imranur Rahman was the day's other winner in the men's 60m, finishing in 6.59.

Hong Kong's Shak Kam Ching and Ryota Suzuki of Japan were 0.06 and 0.07 off the pace respectively.
