While skateboarding is due to take place in Paris, Surfing is scheduled to end on July 30 next year in Tahiti in French Polynesia.

If Brown was to compete in the double, she would have less than a week to prepare for skateboarding, with women's park scheduled for August 6.

"I really hope I can get in for surfing and skateboarding," the 14-year-old told Eurosport.

"It would be really cool because I love them so much, and I want to show the world you don't just have to do one sport.

"Skating and surfing - it's my playground. 

"It's what I love to do: it's my happy place."

Brown, whose mother is Japanese and father British, goes surfing every morning at her home in California before practicing skateboarding after school. 

Few athletes have competed in two sports at the Games in recent history - but Brown will look to join the exclusive group of 85 athletes to have stepped on the Olympic podium in two different sports.

Seven athletes have achieved this feat since 2004, with Czech snowboarder and Alpine skier Ester Ledecká the most notable figure to compete in two sports at the same Games - winning gold medals in snowboard parallel giant slalom and super-G at Pyeongchang 2018.

Brown took the Olympic bronze medal in the women's park event at the re-arrangedT Tokyo 2020 behind Japanese pair Sakura Yosozumi and Kokona Hiraki, the latter becoming the youngest Olympic medallist since 1936 and her nation's youngest medallist, just a month younger than Brown.

Both skateboarding and surfing made their Olympic debuts at Tokyo 2020.
