The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee's Disability Sport and Classification Commission (DiSCC) has held a workshop to "discuss the inclusion of athletes with disabilities into National Federations."

The event took place in a hybrid format at the Olympic House in Johannesburg.

DiSCC chair Moekie Grobbelaar took the opportunity to encourage National Federations to cater for Para sport so that athletes with disability could be fully integrated into these organisations.

"The outcomes of the Disability Sport Classification workshop will serve as a foundation for our continued efforts to achieve our goal of full integration for athletes with disabilities giving them hope and self-perseverance to enable them to fulfil their dreams in the national and international sports world," read a Team South Africa statement.

South Africa is 17th on the all-time Summer Paralympic medals table.

The nation has competed in 12 editions of the Games from 1964, excluding 1980, 1984, and 1988 due to apartheid.

A total of 121 gold, 95 silver, and 87 bronze medals have been won by the country, with Beijing 2008 representing the most fruitful Games.

In the Chinese capital, the team amassed 21 gold medals in addition to three silver and six bronze.

South Africa has competed in five Winter Paralympics but is yet to win a medal.
