Competition is due to start on August 29, the day after the Opening Ceremony, with wheelchair rugby, taekwondo, archery, boccia, table tennis, goalball, wheelchair basketball, badminton, swimming, sitting volleyball, and cycling all scheduled.

Podium places will be available in swimming, taekwondo, and cycling with 16, three, and four medals on offer respectively.

"All the conditions will be met to offer an exceptional spectacle, with prestigious sites," Aurélie Merle, Paris 2024 executive director of sports competitions, told Le Parisien.

"This programme offers the best to athletes, spectators, some of whom will discover the Paralympic Games, and television viewers with, for the first time, a live broadcast of all the events."

Paris 2024 will feature a record number of medal events for women.

On September 8, the last day of competition, 14 medals are due to be awarded in wheelchair basketball, weightlifting, athletics and canoeing with the majority of events being women's contests.

Tickets are due to be released in the northern hemisphere autumn with the Organising Committee aiming to offer "accessible pricing to enable as many people as possible to discover this exceptional event."

Prices for all sports are due to start from €15 (£13/$16).

"The International Paralympic Committee, which co-constructed the programme, has a laudable strategy of allowing the development of women's events, by giving them more visibility, and the development of events for people with more severe disabilities," said Jean Minier, sports director of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee, as reported by Le Parisien.

"It is for this reason that for the first time, there will be a boccia event for women.

"Also for the first time, the French team should be present in the 22 disciplines and will aim to win around sixty medals."
