As part of the 16-stop tour, it will first arrive at State University of New York (SUNY) Adirondack Community College at 10am.

Gore Mountain, which is set to host snowboard and freestyle skiing events at the Games, will then welcome it three hours later.

On January 12, the Relay will culminate in the lighting of a FISU Games' first carbon-free cauldron to mark the beginning of the 31st Winter edition of the Games.

The Torch Relay celebration, which is powered by Hydro-Quebec, will be welcomed by students, local officials and dignitaries, along with Games mascot Adirondack Mac in special ceremonies at each site.

The Organising Committee has made sustainability one of key values for the Games and, as a result, the FISU Flame is being carried in an environmentally friendly Torch with no actual combustion present.

Instead, LED lights on the Torch produce an illuminated Flame in a carbon-free presentation in line with its Save Winter campaign.

The 22-inch-long Torch was created and built by Adirondack Studios of Argyle, the same studio that built the award podiums for the Lake Placid 1980 Winter Olympic Games.

The custom-made Torch consists of elongated steel encasing a blue body, representing an interpretation of ice and water.

SUNY Adirondack Community College President Kristine Duffy, Glen Falls Mayor Bill Collins and Gore Mountain general manager James Bayse are all among dignitaries set to take part in the Relay today.

Tomorrow, the Relay will go to Paul Smith's College and Tupper Lake before finishing its journey at Wilmington in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid on Thursday (January 12) where it will feature at the Opening Ceremony.

Lake Placid 2023 is set to run from January 12 to 22, with 1,443 athletes set to take part from 46 countries.
