Momentum is building towards the 2023 Netball World Cup, as the tournament prepares to take place for the first time on African soil in exactly 200 days when it is hosted by South Africa.

The global netball showpiece, involving 16 teams, will start on July 28 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, with the final set for August 6.

"The plans of the Organising Committee are well underway with the momentum towards the event quickly gaining pace," said tournament director Priscilla Masisi.

"The events over the last few months in South Africa have certainly confirmed our readiness to host the Netball World Cup 2023 in the ‘Mother City’ (Cape Town) in 200 days."

So far, Netball World Cup 2023 has unveiled the official mascot, Letsatsi, revealed the official Gilbert netball Kganya, and announced the tournament's premium sponsors, Telkom and SPAR.

The live team draw was broadcast internationally on November 30 as the 16 teams, including four from the African continent, were split into four pools.

The first phase of tournament tickets are now on sale via the tournament website, with the second phase set to open on February 10.

The second phase of ticket sales will include tickets for the semi-final and final matches, as well as more travel packages, all of which will be available on the tournament website.

"We know that fans are eagerly anticipating purchasing these tickets and we urge them to be ready to do so as we are foreseeing a high demand!" said Masisi.

"We are fast approaching the event and all our efforts are focused on ensuring that the tournament is a huge success for all our stakeholders, including South Africans."
