The "Raging Bull" that was on display during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is set to find a new home, with organisers saying the destination will be revealed "in the next few weeks".

The attraction, which stood in the city's Centenary Square for eight weeks, saw crowds of up to four million people.

"We are expecting there to be an announcement on a new home for the bull in the next few weeks," a Birmingham 2022 spokesperson told Birmingham Live.

West Midlands Mayor Andy Street has previously stated that it will be placed in a "very permanent and obvious place" in the city.

The 30-foot 2.5-tonne structure was last seen dismantled on a warehouse floor.

Artem, the company that designed it said it needed strengthening but would eventually be viewed by "many more people in the years to come."

It was not built to withstand adverse weather as it is made of aluminium tubing, foam and plastic and so is being reinforced before the public can engage with it again.

The bull was moved away from Centenary Square in mid-September last year to make space for the Birmingham Pride parade and a Conservative Party conference.

"Five months after the Games, the vast majority of my emails ask, where's the bull?," Birmingham 2022 chief executive Ian Reid told insidethegames.

"When's it coming back?"

The bull was the signature centrepiece of the Opening Ceremony before becoming an unexpectedly popular tourist.

"We thought there might be some engagement but certainly not to that level," Reid admitted.

"We never anticipated hundreds of thousands of people daily coming to see the bull."
