International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup men's leader Dawid Kubacki put himself back in contention for the Four Hills Tournament crown by beating Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud in the third leg at Innsbruck.

Both safely made it to the top 30 by winning their respective knockout rounds.

Polish jumper Kubacki set the standard with a massive first-round score of 137.4 points, far ahead of Anže Lanišek from Slovenia and Kubacki's compatriot Kamil Stoch.

Marius Lindvik from Norway was ahead of Austrian Stefan Kraft and Granerud, who was sixth.

With a lot of room to breathe, Kubacki jumped safely the second time to take victory with a total of 265.2 points, however, it was Granerud who had enough in his second attempt to keep his overall lead.

His effort scored him 137.1 points, the best second-round jump, for a total of 261.7.

Lanišek had another consistent effort to the take the bronze medal with 258.8 points, with Kraft and Stoch completing the top five.

It means Granerud will not be able to do the clean sweep at the Four Hills Tournament - a feat only achieved on three occasions.

German Sven Hannawald was the first to win all four in 2002, with Stoch and Japan's Ryōyū Kobayashi repeating this in 2018 and 2019.

Kubacki, like Granerud, has been on the podium on all three legs so far, with Lanišek joining them on the last two.

Granerud, the 2020-2021 World Cup champion, has a lead of 23.3 points over Kubacki, but should be able to maintain his lead Bischofshofen on Friday (January 6) if he stays clear of mistakes.

Lanišek is a distant third, with Piotr Żyła of Poland his closest challenger for the final overall podium spot.
