A European University Sports Association (EUSA) delegation has visited Val di Zoldo to assess its preparations for the inaugural European Universities Winter Championships in Italy.

The Dolomites municipality was selected following the visit which was led by the EUSA's secretary general Matjaž Pečovnik.

Sports manager Miha Zvan accompanied Pečovnik to meet with representatives of the Organising Committee which was led by Centro Universitario Sportivo Venezia President.

The two parties discussed all of the organisational aspects of the Championships to be held in the Civetta ski area.

The event is scheduled to take place from December 18 to 21 2023.

The EUSA representatives also had the chance to visit the planned accommodation and catering facilities.

In the afternoon, they were welcomed by the Mayor of Val di Zoldo, Camillo De Pellegrin, who assured the support of the local community for organisation of the event.

The following day, Pečovnik and Zvan met with the event's technical delegate for skiing Alberto Pecere to inspect the planned ski courses for the alpine skiing and snowboarding competitions.

Athletes and other aspiring participants will be able to register for the event from April next year when the process opens.

In March, EUSA member associations are set to meet in Val di Zoldo for the joint seminar between EUSA and the International University Sports Federation.
