The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has elected a new secretary general in Rodion Plitukhin, replacing five-time Olympic artistic swimming champion Anastasia Davydova, who fled the country in September.

He previously served as the deputy director general of the ROC.

Davydova is believed to have moved to Dubai, but plans to keep her Russian citizenship.

Igor Levitin, the Presidential aide to Vladimir Putin, was elected again as first vice-president, standing alongside the re-elected ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov, who stood unopposed.

Vladimir Sengleev is to continue as ROC director general.

Russian Handball Federation President, Sergey Shishkarev, chairman of the Board of Presidents of the Winter Olympic Sports Association, Vladimir Kozhin, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kontinental Hockey League, Gennady Timchenko and President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation, Vasily Titov, were all elected as vice-presidents of the ROC.

Middle distance runner Yuriy Borzakovskiy, the 800 metres Olympic gold medallist at Athens 2004, has replaced two-time Olympic fencing champion Sofya Velikaya as chair of the ROC Athletes' Commission.

Borzakovskiy, also the sports director of the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF), has been an Athletes' Commission member since 2016.

For six years he was the head coach of the Russian athletics team from 2015 to 2021 and served as RusAF vice-president from 2016 to 2019.

Velikaya, according to Russian state news agency TASS, resigned from the position on Friday (December 16) due to family circumstances.
