Martin Gibbs has been confirmed as the new permanent managing director of SportAccord, it was announced today.

The dual British-French national had been appointed in an acting role in October following the departure of Nis Hatt.

This appointment is one of several concrete steps taken by SportAccord, many of which still have to be officially announced, since the dissolution  of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) was voted by its  members last month.

Other changes expected are the departure of the long-serving senior events operations manager, communications John Hewitt at the end of the month.

He is expected to join a Lausanne-based International Federation.

With professional services provider Ernst & Young handling GAISF’s liquidation, "the ongoing integration of various activities, responsibilities, and staff members into SportAccord is firmly on track, ensuring continuity for International Federations and the broader sports movement", it has been claimed.
