Claire Carver-Dias has replaced Rick Powers as President of Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) following a vote at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting.

The two-time Commonwealth Games gold-medallist has secured the top job on a four-year term after recently holding the role of co-Chef de Mission for Birmingham 2022.

Carver-Dias was part of Canada’s synchronised swimming team, winning solo and duet golds at Manchester 2002.

She is also a double Pan American Games champion and claimed team bronze at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Since retiring from competition, Carver-Dias has coached at national level and ran as chair of AthletesCan from 2006 to 2008 and was a Board member of the Coaching Association of Canada from 2006 to 2007.

Carver-Dias, also a business owner and communications consultant, was Canada’s Chef de Mission at Gold Coast 2018 before jointly holding the role at Birmingham 2022.

"I have been deeply connected to Commonwealth Sport Canada in various capacities over the past 20 years," said Carver-Dias.

"I’m eager to continue my dedication to the Commonwealth movement in Canada as President of CSC, and work diligently to ensure a Games returns to Canada."
