The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) has entered a partnership with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) aimed at developing its academy.

The Manchester-based WAoS, which also has offices in Melbourne, Dublin, Athens, Vancouver and Geneva, delivers learning programmes for athletes, managers, administrators, officials and coaches, and has experience working with several International Federations.

Its partnership with the IBSF aims to develop the IBSF Academy as a dedicated learning environment in 2023.

This is set to follow on from initial assistance in completing a learning and developing framework to support the IBSF's National Federations.

IBSF President Ivo Ferriani, who is also an International Olympic Committee Executive Board member, explained the purpose of the partnership.

"Developing bobsleigh and skeleton has always been a priority for IBSF," the Italian official insisted.

"Education is key and it is now the right time to structure the learning within our sport to provide long-term opportunities for our stakeholders and create a sustainable pathway for our federation.

"We look forward to working with WAoS and implementing an effective learning plan, along with developing our workforce and stakeholders, certifying them, and sharing unique content with them through our own academy."

WAoS chief executive Chris Solly believes that the partnership will tap into bobsleigh and skeleton's potential.

"We are delighted to have formed this partnership with our colleagues and friends at IBSF and look forward to helping them achieve their vision for bobsleigh and skeleton," he said.

"There is a lot of potential for IBSF in the near future, and I strongly believe that our collaboration will help them structure their learning and distribute quality content to everyone involved in the world of bobsleigh and skeleton."
