The Sambo Federation of Israel has held an anti-doping seminar for the country's athletes.

Banned substances and procedures for doping control were discussed at the event, held in coordination with the Israel National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

"One of the important goals of our federation is to educate sports youth in the spirit of fair wrestling and 'clean' sport," claimed Pavel Musin, head coach of the national team and a Sambo Federation of Israel vice-president.

"At this seminar, it was very important for us to tell the sambists of the country what harm illicit substances do to health, and also to discuss the possible use of doping from the moral side.

"Together with the Israeli NADA, we have tried to give as much information as possible about the correct use of drugs, as well as explain the rights and obligations of athletes during doping control.

"We see the importance of cooperation with the national office of NADA and will continue to work together for 'clean' and fair sport in the country and in the world."

The Sambo Federation of Israel is one of the more active International Sambo Federation (FIAS) members.

It hosted the World Beach Sambo Championships earlier this year and is due to stage next year's European Championships.

Russian athletes will be able to compete at the European Championships under the FIAS despite the war in Ukraine, under current rules.

That was the case for this year's World Beach Sambo Championships in Bat Yam, where "neutral" athletes won more medals than those officially representing any country.

The FIAS is a World Anti-Doping Code signatory and recently agreed a deal for the International Testing Agency to run its anti-doping operations.
