National_ExpressDecember 9 - Leading travel company National Express has agreed a sponsorship deal to become an Official Supporter of Commonwealth Games England (CGE) in the run-up to Glasgow 2014.

CGE chairman Sir Andrew Foster said: "We are absolutely delighted that National Express has chosen to invest in the England team for four years.

"Having a major corporate sponsor being involved so early in England preparations for the 2014 Games is a testament to the potential and talent of the England Commonwealth Games team.

"We are confident that Glasgow will host a fantastic Games, and we anticipate every success for the England team.

"CGE are looking forward to working closely with National Express in the years ahead."

Earlier this year National Express ended its sponsorship of the England football team.

Dean Finch, chief executive of National Express Group, said: "National Express is committed to investing in excellence, and we are proud to support the next generation of athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

"During the next four years, we will support athletes at a grass roots and regional level.

"All CGE medal winners from Delhi will receive free coach travel from the New Year until the Games in 2014 to help with their costs to train and attend competitions.

"We are pleased to be involved at such an early stage in supporting the England Commonwealth Games team to success."

National Express has painted one of its coaches in gold livery in honour of the athletes who are training and competing to take part in the next Commonwealth Games.

The coach travels between London, Brighton and Heathrow Airport covering an average of 150,000 miles per year - the equivalent of running 5,725 marathons.
