With a timing of 1min 44.08sec, the Swiss star grabbed her first giant slalom World Cup gold in six years.  

Marta Bassino of Italy bagged silver in 1:44.15 while Sweden’s Beijing 2022 Olympic champion Sara hector finished third in 1:44.28 to claim bronze.

"The last two years I’ve been getting better in GS again, I haven’t won a title but I was improving my GS every race," Gut-Behrami said.

"I usually always struggle a little bit with the wind [in Killington] and I don’t have a great feeling on the snow but I am happy at the beginning of the season I was able to ski that way.

"It was a really different set.

"The first run was slow which I don’t really like usually but I tried to ski clean and that is the thing I am really happy about my skiing today because there were two different runs and two different course settings and I was able to ski both of them."

The Super G Olympic champion managed only one giant slalom podium last season compared to Bassino, who picked up four wins in the 2021 season.

Petra Vlhová of Slovakia came in fourth with a timing of 1:44.54 while Katharina Liensberger of Austria completed the top five, clocking 1:44.63.
