Ten teams are to battle it out as Incheon and Seoul in South Korea are scheduled to host the Asian Women's Handball Championship starting tomorrow.

Hosts South Korea will start as the favourites in the 19th edition of the event, which will conclude on December 4, after having won 15 of the 18 titles so far.

They have won the last five titles in a row and boast a Championship record of 29 wins on the trot.

South Korea last lost a game in the event in Indonesia in 2012, when Kazakhstan defeated them 33-32 in the final.

The 2022 edition will see two group of five teams with the top two from both groups advancing to the next stage.

Along with the hosts, Iran, Uzbekistan, India and Australia complete Group A.

Group B will see Japan, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, China and Thailand.

Japan in expected to qualify in first place from Group B after making it to the last four finals.

The event is also a qualifier for the 2023 Women's World Championship.

The top five teams will make it to the flagship tournament, due to be held in Denmark, Norway and Sweden between November 30 and December 17 2023.
