The 470 Sailing World Championship is set to begin tomorrow in Sdot Yam, Israel with all focus on the mixed competition, which will feature at Paris 2024.

A total of sixty teams will be vying for titles in Israel, with the event set to conclude on October 29.

Swedish pair of Anton Dahlberg and Lovisa Karlsson will being as favourites.

The due are in great form, having won the European Championship in Turkey six weeks back before sealing a title at the 470 Open Israel National Championship before the World Championships.

Dahlberg is also a silver medallist at Tokyo 2020.

British duo of Eilidh McIntyre and Martin Wrigley remain strong threats to Sweden’s ambitions despite finishing only fourth in the Israel National Championship.

However, McIntyre will be hoping for a repeat of her women’s 470 gold at Tokyo 2020 when she takes to the water in Israel.

Another Olympic medallist in Jordi Xammar will carry the hopes for Spain along with Nora Brugman.

The other team for Spain featuring Nico Rodriguez and 2021 world champion Silvia Mas shows the country’s strength in the 470 class.

France will be boosted by the availability of Olympic bronze medallists Aloïse Retornaz and Camille Lecointre.

Retornaz is paired with Hippolyte Machetti while Lecointre will partner former world champion Jérémie Mion.

Olympic bronze medallist Veteran Fernando Oliveira will be the main candidate for Brazil while home hopes will be pinned on Nitai Hasson and Noa Lasry.
