The trophy arrived before embarking on a two-day tour of Ghana to give fans the chance to see it in person.

It was met by the Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif, Deputy Sports Minister Evans Bobie, Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo Mensah and the Executive Board of the Ghana Cricket Association.

This year's World Cup is set to take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13. 

Ghana missed out on appearing at the tournament as they finished second in Group A of the African qualifier to Uganda, who went on to advance to the main event after winning the regional final.

"Our dream is to ensure that we get cricket promoted as a sport so that we can develop talents and have our national teams that can maybe in the next five years lift the world cricket trophy," said Ussif.

"This is a new dawn for the development of cricket in Ghana."

The trophy travelled to Fiji, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Namibia, Nepal, Singapore and Vanuata before Ghana, which was the last stop as it is now due to return to Australia to complete the tour.

Cricket's African Games debut next year in Ghana is set to feature men's and women's tournaments with eight teams in each.

Accra 2023, the 13th African Games, is set to take place from August 4 to 19 in what is due to be Ghana's first time hosting the event.
