The inaugural International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Cup Combat Sports is set to get underway tomorrow in Samsun, with six sports on the schedule over 11 days.

Sambo is to award the first medals at the World Cup tomorrow, with three days of finals action; while wushu qualifiers begin then too, before concluding on Saturday (September 24).

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for Friday (September 23), with four more sports beginning after this.

Muaythai qualifiers are set to start on Saturday, with finals on September 28; while boxing is to start on Sunday (September 25).

Wrestling is scheduled to begin on Monday (September 26), with karate beginning the following day.

Wrestling finals span four days – the last of these on September 30 alongside boxing and karate.

Ondokuz Mayıs University is home to the Athletes' Village, while competition is spread across four venues.

Boxing, karate and wushu are all to be held at the university, while muaythai athletes are to be welcomed to the Ilkadim Okculuk Sport Hall, one of the facilities affiliated with the Samsun Youth Services and Sports Provincial Directorate.

Wrestling and sambo are set to take place in Mustafa Dagistanli Sport Hall.

Samsun replaced Yekaterinburg as the late hosts of the World Cup, with the Turkish city being named as a replacement by FISU in May.

This was in response to the invasion of Ukraine, which led to Russia and Belarus being stripped of several sporting events in response to their involvement in the conflict.
