Top seeds Canada justified their favouritism to win the International Basketball Federation 3x3 Women’s Series Final in Constanța, Romania.

Canada, who won three titles during the regular season from five appearances, went unbeaten through the Series Final before overcoming France 21-16.

In the pool stages the nation beat Romania 22-5, France 21-12, in what proved to be a dress rehearsal for the final, and Lithuania 21-12, to advance to the semi-finals.

Canada then cruised past defending champions and second seeds Germany 22-8 in the last four, before winning the final against France.

France had finished behind Canada in Pool A, beating Lithuania 20-12 and Romania 21-6.

In the quarter-finals, France beat Dusseldorf Zoos 14-11, before they defeated the United States 21-18 in the last four.

Sixth seeds the US had surprisingly topped Pool B, with an opening 16-12 victory against Spain, a 21-9 triumph against Dusseldorf Zoos, and finally a 21-13 win over Germany, before being beaten by France in the semi-finals.

Number one ranked 3x3 player in the world Michelle Plouffe impressed with a 14-point, 11-highlight double-double for Canada in the final, being named Most Valuable Player for her efforts in the showpiece match.

She also earned $10,000 (£8,760/€9,980) for leading all players on player value through the season, with Canada winning $40,000 (£35,000/€39,940) for their team success.
