Georgia were the only host who failed to progress, finishing bottom of Group A with just one win from their five matches at the Tbilisi Arena in the country's capital.

World champions Spain eased through with four wins from five, despite an 83-73 defeat by Belgium in their third outing.

Turkey, Montenegro and Belgium ranked second to fourth respectively with three victories to their name.

Group B at the Köln Arena in Cologne, Germany, appeared the toughest going into the tournament, featuring defending champions Slovenia and Olympic silver medallists France.

Slovenia took top spot, their only defeat by 97 points to 93 against a Bosnia and Herzegovina side who missed out on the knockout stage by virtue of their head-to-head record against Lithuania.

Lithuania beat them 87-80 in their final group match to go through in fourth place.

Germany racked up four wins, including a 76-63 triumph over France in their opener, but the Tokyo 2020 runners-up are safely through in third after beating Lithuania 77-73, Hungary 78-74 and Bosnia and Herzegovina 81-68.

Italy's 90-56 victory against Britain today at the Forum di Assago in Milan, coupled with Estonia's 90-69 loss to Greece, secured fourth place for the host nation.

Greece topped the group with five wins from five, followed by Ukraine, Croatia and Italy with three victories apiece.

Serbia also had a perfect record at the top of Group D, and are joined in the knockout stages by Finland and Poland.

Czech Republic clinched the fourth and final qualifying berth by beating Israel 88-77 at the Prague Arena to leapfrog their opponents.

The EuroBasket Arena Berlin in Germany's capital is due to host all knockout matches, beginning with four round-of-16 ties on Saturday (September 10).

Turkey are due to meet France, followed by Slovenia against Belgium, Germany versus Montenegro and Spain against Lithuania.

A further four ties are set to be held the following day - Greece against Czech Republic, Finland against Croatia, Ukraine facing Poland and Serbia taking on Italy.
