Olympic champion Kārlis Lasmanis starred for Riga as the Latvian team achieved their first Masters triumph of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 World Tour of the season in Montreal.

Riga defeated Lithuania's Šakiai Gulbelė 19-17 in a close final that saw Lasmanis score a match high of eight points to secure the title and the Most Valuable Player award.

Aurelijus Pukelis was Šakiai Gulbelė's highest scorer of the match with seven.

Lasmanis' scoring prowess was on full display throughout the competition, as he netted 48 points to top the scoring charts in Canada.

Prior to the event, Riga had previously come seventh and fifth in Utsunomiya and fifth in Prague as well as missing stops in Manila, Lausanne and Debrecen all together.

In their third appearance on the tour, they were able to field their Olympic champion quartet of Lasmanis, Nauris Miezis, Edgars Krūmiņš and Agnis Čavars.

Austria's Vienna finished third in the standings while Omaha 3ball of the United States and China’s Beijing rounded off the top five.

In the individual events, Steve Sir of Mongolian team Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy won the shoot-out contest and the US' Jordan Southerland walked away with the podium dunk contest trophy.

The next leg of the FIBA World Tour is scheduled to be held in Utrecht between September 24 and 25.
