Keller clinched her maiden overall World Cup triumph by placing sixth in the women's Olympic discipline race, following on from a third-place finish in the short track on Friday (September 2).

The 26-year-old topped the season's standings in the short track with Friday's result, and crossed the finish line in 1 hour 25min 50sec to take sixth place in the 22.5 kilometres race in the Italian resort.

That was 5min 27sec adrift of the race winner Pauline Ferrand-Prevot of France, who followed up her victory in the short track race by triumphing in 1:20.23.

European champion Loana Lecomte of France was 1:27 off the pace in second, with Switzerland's Olympic champion Jolanda Neff completing the top three in 1:22:52.

Keller travelled to Val di Sole third in the overall World Cup standings, but took advantage of below-par performances from Anne Terpstra of The Netherlands and Rebecca McConnell of Australia to claim the crown.

Terpstra led the way after eight World Cup stops, but finishes of 38^th in the short track and 45^th in the Olympic discipline meant she had to settle for third overall.

McConnell finished second after coming through in 19^th in the last race of the season.

Keller finished with 1,682 points, McConnell 1,626 and Terpstra 1,618.

In the men's cross-country, three-time Olympic medallist Schurter earned his eighth overall World Cup gold with a second-place finish in the 26.6km race.

He finished 35sec behind race winner Titouan Carod of France, whose short track and Olympic discipline double propelled him onto the overall podium and into second place for the season.

He won the final race in Val di Sole in 1:22:02, with compatriot Jordan Sarrou taking third in 1:23:10.

Italy's Luca Braidot held on to third for the season with a fifth-place finish in 1:23:38, but Spain's Olympic bronze medallist David Valero Serrano dropped from second to fourth after he finished 12sec further back in sixth.

Schurter took the overall title with 1,723 points, followed by Carod on 1,620 and Braidot on 1,533, with Valero Serrano finishing 22 points shy of the podium.

Chile's Martín Vidaurre Kossmann won his eighth men's under-23 cross-country race from nine this season to storm to the overall title, and France's Line Burquier won her third women's under-23 event of the year to top the standings.

Downhill titles were decided on Saturday (September 3).

Loris Vergier of France won the men's event but finished second behind compatriot Amaury Pierron overall, despite his 53^rd-place finish in Val di Sole.

There was a similar story in the women's competition, with France's Myriam Nicole winning the race and finishing second for the season behind Camille Balanche of Switzerland, who ranked fifth in the last race.
