The United States will face Hungary in the quarter-finals of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Ice Hockey Championship after beating Canada to top Group A.

Canada, who finished second in Group A, will be up against Sweden in the last-eight.

Canada stormed to a 2-0 lead over the Americans in the first period with Sarah Fillier and Ella Shelton on target at the KVIK Hockey Arena in Herning.

However, Megan Keller and Kelly Pannek struck in the second period to make it 2-2 for the US.

Three more goals from Lacey Eden, Kendall Coyne Schofield, and Hilary Knight sealed the victory for the Americans.

Finland scored four past Switzerland today to set up a meeting with the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.

Susanna Tapani opened the scoring for Finland within three minutes before Elisa Holoipainen doubled the lead for the Finns.

Two more goals from Krista Parkkonen and Ronja Savolainen in the second period sealed the victory for Finland.

Despite the loss, Switzerland will face Japan for a place in the last-four.

In the other games of the day, Vendula Pribylova opened the scoring for the Czech Republic in the second period before two more goals from Natalie Mlynkova and Klara Hylarova ensured a 3-0 win against Sweden.

The only other match of the day saw Germany edge Denmark 3-2.

However, the result does not mean anything as both teams finish ninth and tenth in the overall standings.

The quarter-finals will begin on Thursday.
