Italy came away with both gold medals today in Larnaca at the European Shotgun Championships, with victories in the final of the men's and women's team trap events.

Silvana Stanco, Giulia Grassia and Jessica Rossi took the women's win by a 6-0 margin, aided by the work of Stanco, who missed just one of 15 targets.

Italy were dominant in the first round against Finland's Sara Silja Patricia Nummela, Mopsi Veromaa and Noora Antikainen, winning it 12-9.

The second went the way of the Italians 13-11, before wrapping it up by a 14-6 margin.

Britain's Kirsty Hegarty, Ellie Seward and Lucy Charlotte Hall won 6-4 against Kathrin Murche, Sarah Bindrich and Katrin Quooss of Germany for the bronze medal.

Lorenzo Ferrari, Daniele Resca and Mauro de Filippis won the men's gold medal, beating Croatia's Josip Glasnović, Francesco Ravalico and Anton Glasnović 6-2 in the final.

The trio won the first and fourth rounds to give them the edge, by 14-13 and 12-11 margins.

Nathan Hales, Aaron Heading and Matthew John Coward-Holley from Britain defeated Germany's Paul Pigorsch, Steve Eidekorn and Andreas Löw 7-1 for bronze.

Competition is set to return on Thursday (September 1) after two days of junior events.
