Denmark’s team claimed gold on home soil in the team dressage competition at the World Equestrian Championships in Herning.

Nanna Merrald Rasmussen, Carina Cassoe Kruth, Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour secured the team event for the nation for the first time at the World Championships, albeit by a very narrow margin.

The Danish quartet scored 235.421 points, compared to silver medallists Britain, who were 1.228 percentage points behind the hosts.

The Danes rider with the best percentage score was Laudrup-Dufour, who scored 81.864 per cent of the team’s points on board Vamos Amigos.

Britain’s team of Richard Davison, Gareth Hughes, Charlotte Dujardin and Charlotte Fry finished with a final total of 234.223.

The British team’s best scoring points percentage rider was Fry on board Glamourdale, with 80.838.

The podium was completed by defending champions Germany whose line-up of Ingrid Klimke, Benjamin Werndl, Isabell Werth and Frederic Wandres scored 230.791.

The points percentages were spread evenly across the German quartet, with Werth accounting for the best percentage total of 77.127.

Sweden finished fourth with 227.142 points, followed by The Netherlands in fifth with 225.621 and the United States in sixth with 220.00.

The top six teams qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics, while the top 30 individuals are set to compete in tomorrow’s Grand Prix Special event.
