Sunwoo Kim and Woongtae Jun of South Korea claimed the mixed relay title on the final day of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) World Championships in Alexandria, Egypt.

Kim and Jun scored 1393 points on their way to victory, with their best performance coming in the fencing, where they scored 264 points after managing 27 wins.

They then followed this up with fourth place in the swimming, second in the riding, and 11th in the laser run.

The silver medal went to British duo Joseph Choong and Jessica Varley, with Olympic champion Choong coming into the mixed relay following individual success yesterday.

Choong and Varley managed two second placed finishes among their performances, with these coming in the swimming and laser run, on their way to a final total of 1380 points.

The podium was completed by Turkish pairing Bugra Unal and Ilke Ozyuksel, with their best performance in fencing where they accrued 232 points.

A consistent showing also saw them finish third in riding and fourth in the laser run on the way to a final tally of 1376 points.

Fourth place overall went to French pair Christopher Patte and Elodie Clouvel, whose tally of 1363 points included the best time in the swimming discipline of 1min 56.81sec.
