Olympic silver medallist Marlen Reusser broke clear to claim victory on the fourth stage of the Tour de France Femmes in Bar-sur-Aube, with Marianne Vos preserving her overall lead.

The 126.8 kilometres route had began in Troyes, and Swiss rider Reusser, competing for SD Worx, launched an attack with 23km remaining and claimed a solo victory in 3 hours 16min 30sec.

French home favourite Évita Muzic crossed the finish line in second, but the FDJ-Suez-Futuroscope rider was 1min 24sec behind the Tokyo 2020 women's time trial silver medallist.

Belarusian rider Alena Amialiusik, competing as a neutral for Canyon-SRAM, clocked the same time as Muzic and edged out Veronica Ewers of the United States and the EF Education-TIBCO-SVB to the final podium position.

There was no change in the general classification, with The Netherlands' Vos of Jumbo-Visma retaining the yellow jersey for the third day.

She held off attacks from her closest rivals, and placed fifth in Bar-sur-Aube with a time of 3:18:10.

Second-placed Silvia Persico of Italy and Valcar-Travel & Service took seventh place for the stage, and remains 16 seconds behind Vos for the Tour.

Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma of Canyon-SRAM was also in the group of riders that finished 1:40 off the pace, finishing 16th for the stage and staying within 16 seconds of Vos in third overall.

Spain's Margarita Garcia Cañellas of UAE Team ADQ was sixth and within 55 seconds of the lead at the start of the stage, but her hopes of victory took a huge blow after being struck by her team's own car.

She slipped to 11th and is 2:26 behind Vos, after placing 33rd on stage four with a time of 3:19:41.

The 175.6km fifth stage of the Tour de France Femmes is due to run tomorrow from Bar-Le-Duc to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges.
