Lebanon reached the final for the first time since 2007, defeating 16-time champions China 72-69 in the quarter-finals, followed by an 86-85 win against Jordan.

Their opponents defeated Japan 99-85 in the quarter-finals before beating Oceania rivals New Zealand 85-76 for a spot in the final.

Australia were the favourites heading in and started as expected - leading by 12 after the first-quarter.

Lebanon's Wael Arakji was pivotal to keep them in the game with 28 points, and outscored the Australians in the second-quarter, still trailing by 10.

It all looked over for Lebanon when Australia pulled out a 14-point lead with 15 minutes to go; but a superb comeback took place for them in the final minutes.

Arakji scored a three-pointer with seven seconds to go to make it a one-point game, but Rhys Anthony Vague sealed the win for Australia with a free throw.

Tohi Smith-Milner's 25 points helped New Zealand to third place, beating Jordan 83-75.
