Guild Esports, backed by former England football star David Beckham, has announced a sponsorship deal with drinks giant Coca-Cola.

The one-year agreement sees Guild Esports become the first European esports organisation to secure Coca-Cola as a sponsor.

Coca-Cola has been named as Guild Esports’ official soft drinks and hydration partner.

It is the sixth sponsor confirmed by the gaming company which was co-founded by Beckham in June 2020.

The undisclosed deal has also resulted in Guild Esports’ share price rising by more than 40 per cent.

According to Guild Esports, Coca-Cola will help the organisation "provide unique and unmissable experiences."

"They want to collaborate with Guild because we deliver great entertainment and memorable experiences for a millennial, hard-to-reach audience in one of the fastest growing segments of the sports entertainment industry," said Kal Hourd, chief executive of Guild Esports.

It is not the first time Coca-Cola has invested into the gaming industry having become a worldwide founding partner of Wild Rift and recently securing a multi-year partnership with Charlotte Phoenix.

Earlier this year, Guild Esports signed a 10-year property lease to launch a corporate headquarters and an academy in London, England.

Guild Esports field competitive teams in Apex Legends, Guild X, Fortnite, Rocket League and FIFA.

Beckham earned 115 caps during his 14-year international career for England.
