Guernsey’s 2019 gold medallists Rose Ogier and Todd Priaulx have returned to the European Bowls Championships to claim more gold medals at the latest edition in Ayr.

Ogier partnered Lucy Beere three years ago to gold in the women’s pairs in Guernsey, while they both claimed the mixed fours title alongside Priaulx and Matt Le Ber in the Scottish coastal town.

The quadruplet also led their country to the overall gold medal as the Channel Island won three of the four gold medals available, with England claiming the men's pairs.

Ogier is scheduled to compete solely in the women’s pairs event this time around, with pairs partner Lyn Small also due to participate in the women’s singles at the National Centre for Bowling

Priaulx is expected take part in the men’s singles and men’s pairs.

Matt Solway, who is planned to partner his compatriot in the men’s pairs, is anticipated to be a member of the fours team alongside John Pinson, Martyn De Carteret and Mick Ogier.

Pinson, De Carteret and Ogier are Guernsey’s team for the men’s triples event.

Host nation Scotland have sent five men and five women to bring home gold, with 2019 men’s pairs silver medallist Connor Milne the starring name.

England’s men’s pairs team of Tom McGuinness and Ed Morris will hope top repeat the golden heroics of Andrew Walters and Tristan Morton from three years ago.

Each player can compete in a maximum of two formats.

The competition format has changed from the previous edition with the men's and women's singles, pairs , triples and fours taking place.

This is similar to the format used for the World Bowls World Championships.

The event was planned to be held last year in Scotland but it postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 17 countries and an estimated 150 players are due to participate at the event scheduled to conclude next Tuesday (July 14).
