The third and final week of the women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) pool phase is set to get underway tomorrow in Calgary and Sofia, with the eight quarter-finalists set to be confirmed.

Japan remain undefeated after eight VNL matches, notably defeating the United States, who sit second presently.

Both countries have all but mathematically confirmed their places in the top eight, with four and three wins in hand to ninth place, with four matches each to go.

For the leaders, their toughest contest is expected to come against Turkey, who automatically qualify for the final round in Ankara as hosts and sit fifth out of 16 teams.

Their opener comes against The Netherlands, second from bottom with one victory.

Japan are also set to face Belgium and Serbia.

Turkey, Serbia, Germany and Belgium are on the US agenda, with Canada the eighth side playing in Calgary.

The other pool taking place in Bulgaria's capita is led by Brazil and Italy with six wins each.

Both are to play winless South Korea and the hosts Bulgaria, who sit close to the bottom.

Thailand, Poland, China and the Dominican Republic complete the sides playing in Sofia.

If Turkey fail to make the top eight, only the top seven sides will make the cut for the quarter-finals, scheduled to be played in Ankara on July 13 and 14.
