Home favourite Daria Atamanov and Stiliana Nikolova led the individual qualifying rounds for the clubs and ribbons disciplines at the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Israel.

Atamanov excelled with the clubs at Expo Tel Aviv to put up a score of 34.700 as she was awarded 16.900, 9.050, and 8.750 points for the difficulty, execution, and artistry of her routine.

Bulgarian Boryana Kaleyn finished second with 34.000 points to continue her good form at the event.

The 21-year-old topped the standings in yesterday's ball round and her display today showed why she is one of the contenders for the all-around title.

Darja Varfolomeev of Germany scored 33.800 points to claim third place.

Adi Asya Katz secured the last qualification spot for the final as her 30.850 points was enough for her to finish in 11th place.

After Bulgaria's Nikolova came fifth in the clubs, she then topped the table in the ribbon event with 32.950 points.

The 16-year-old attempted the hardest routine of the qualifiers and received 15.9 points for it as a result.

She then claimed 8.600 and 8.450 points for her execution and artistry, respectively.

Atamanov put in another solid performance as her 32.150 points was enough to put her second.

Varfolomeev achieved another high placing as she came third with 31.900 points.

Hungarian Fanni Pigniczki scraped through to the finals in 11th place with 29.800 points.

The championships are set to continue tomorrow with the all-around finals for both the group and individual competitions while the team champion will also be crowned.
