Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Flückiger crossed the line after 1hr 15min 31sec as he led a Swiss one-two with compatriot Nino Schurter following him across the finish line six seconds later.

South African Alan Hatherly made up the podium in third as he clocked in after 1:16:10 to beat Vlad Dascalu of Romania to bronze by six seconds following a fierce battle.

It was the second time Flückiger has won in Leogang after he took gold in 2021.

The result means that Schurter is still in pole position in the overall standings with 764 points while Dascalu and Britain's Thomas Pidcock occupy second and third with 625 and 600 points respectively.

In the women's event, Lecomte also repeated her triumph from last year's race in Leogang with a leading time of 1:15:42.

She was streets ahead of Swedish silver medallist Jenny Rissveds who finished one minute and 13 seconds later.

Austria's Laura Stigger posted a time of 1:17:10 to seal third place.

Lecomte's win helped her to make up ground on Rebecca Ellen McConnell at the top of the overall standings.

She now has 916 points, 177 away from the Australian's 1,093 while Anne Terpstra of The Netherlands is currently in third with 713 points.

The Mountain Bike World Cup circuit is set to continue from July 8 to 10 as Lenzerheide in Switzerland is due to host the seventh stop of the season.
