After winning K1 sprint and K1 sprint team gold on Saturday, the Frenchwoman emerged victorious in a third competition after a strong showing in Treignac. 

Hostens ended on a high note after her decision to step away from wildwater canoeing to concentrate on preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Speaking after her victory, she said: "It was amazing for me, I know the river so I had a very good line. 

"It’s been six years, so I wanted to make it special."

Hostens' French teammate Quentin Bonnetain held on after an early run to clinch his first men's wildwater classic world title, eight years after achieving gold in the wildwater sprint.

Czech Ondrej Rolenc successfully defended his C1 title, putting together a solid race to retain the championship title he won four years ago, and announced after his triumph that he would retire from international racing.

In the women’s C1, Italy's Cecilia Panato picked up her first classic world title, edging out the C1 sprint champion Marie Nemcova. 

Panato had chosen to not compete in the women’s K1 to focus on the event.

Stephane Santamaria and Quentin Dazeur won their second gold in two days, successfully defending their 2018 C2 classic title, after victory in the men’s C2 sprint final.

The ICF Wildwater Canoe World Championships will draw to a close on Jun 6.
