Bakiev triumphed in the men's combat sambo under-58 kilograms weight category at last year's World Championships in Tashkent, and came out on top in the continental Championships at the Bouddha Sports Centre having moved up to 64kg.

He consigned World Championships bronze medallist Adilbek Seissov of Kazakhstan to silver, with Kyrgyzstan's Barakanov Saiak and Turkmenistan's Meylis Niyazmenliyev claiming bronze.

Uzbekistan dominated the men's combat sambo competitions on the second day, winning four of the seven golds available.

Lutfilla Saydamatov prevailed in the under-58kg, with South Korea's Oh Hyup-chan placing second and Lebanese home favourite Mahdi Kamhaz third.

Olimjon Nomurodov won the under-71kg event, beating Asset Anarbayev of Kazkahstan in the final.

The two bronze medals went to Turkmenistan's Muhammetnyyaz Gurbandurdyyev and Iraq's Safaa Jameel.

Mekhriddin Mannonov was Uzbekistan's other winner in the under-88kg, seeing off Kyrgyzstan's Bekten Erkebai Uulu to take gold.

Kazakhstan's Aibek Sametaev and Iraq's Mujtaba Al-Rubaye placed joint third.

Kyrgyzstan provided two of the combat sambo winners on the second day, with Daiyrbek Karyiaev and Bekbolsun Kerimbekov both earning golds.

Karyiaev beat Kazakhstan's Assylbek Smailov to win the under-79kg, in which Turkmenistan's Rusdem Penjiyev and Iraq's Mohammed Alabbas were bronze medallists.

Bekbolsun Kerimbekov saw off Raikhan Madi of Kazakhstan to take under-98kg gold, with Turkmenistan's Charymyrat Annagurbanov and Uzbekistan's Shermukhambet Khodjaniyazov winning bronze.

The other winner of the day was Babajan Ivadullayev of Turkmenistan in the over-98kg category, with Kyrgyzstan's Nuraliev Talasbek taking silver and Uzbekistan's Alim Murtazakulov and Iraq's Ali Al-Zeebaree the bronze medals.

Uzbekistan also dominated the day's junior competition, winning five of the seven women's golds and four of the seven men's titles.

Competition is due to conclude tomorrow at the Championships with the men's and women's sport sambo events.
