Eleven of the 12 players who represented Canada in wheelchair rugby at last year's Paralympic Games in Tokyo have been included in the squad for next month's Canada Cup.

Branden Troutman - a Lima 2019 Parapan American Games bronze medallist - is the lone addition to the group, in lieu of six-time Paralympian Patrice Simard.

Zak Madell, who was second in tournament scoring at Tokyo 2020 with 26.3 tries per game and 105 points, leads the squad.

Athens 2004 and London 2012 silver medallists Fabien Lavoie and Mike Whitehead are also included.

Travis Murao, Trevor Hirschfield, Patrice Dagenais, Cody Caldwell and Byron Green are all also Paralympic medallists.

Shayne Smith, Eric Furtado-Rodrigues and Anthony Létourneau complete the group.

Seven teams are due to play in the Canada Cup at the Richmond Olympic Oval, beginning on Thursday (June 2).

Paralympic champions Britain are among them, with all three Tokyo 2020 medallists due to compete in a contest seen as a key warm-up event for this year's World Championship in Denmark in October.

The United States won the silver medal at Tokyo 2020, with Japan finishing third.

Australia, Denmark and France complete the Canada Cup line-up.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Canada Cup has not been played since 2018, when the US were victorious.
