France’s Loana Lecomte clocked 1:21:57 to secure second spot, while Sweden’s Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist Jenny Rissveds clinched bronze in 1:22.34.

Two-time world medallist McConnell leads the rankings with 935 points, followed by Lecomte on 586 and Anne Terpstra of The Netherlands on 508.

Pidcock, who earned cross-country gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, secured his second successive World Cup win after edging Vlad Dascălu of Romania in a thrilling men's race.

There was just 0.01 between the two cyclists, with Pidcock claiming the title with a winning time of 1:21:19.

Dascălu had to settle for silver in 1:21:20, while third place went to Switzerland’s Nino Schurter who clocked 1:21:49.

Back-to-back wins for Pidcock has seen the Briton get within 132 points of Schurter at the top of the standings.

Schurter, who has medalled at the first three races, leads with 732 points from Pidcock who sits second on 600 and Dascălu who ranks third with 560.

The fourth stage of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is set to be held in Leogang in Austria on June 11 and 12.
