Ronnie O'Sullivan has a seven-frame lead in the World Snooker Championship final and is closing in on a record-equalling seventh title.

O'Sullivan's dominance on day one of the final at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre included reeling off five frame wins on the spin.

Trump stopped the rot to leave the score 10-5, but O'Sullivan promptly won the final two frames of the day to lead 12-5.

The 46-year-old, who also spent time arguing with the referee today, is just six frames away from victory.

O'Sullivan will be the oldest world champion of the modern era should he be victorious tomorrow.

O'Sullivan's seventh world title would also equal Scottish legend Stephen Hendry's modern-era record.

Trump, the world champion in 2019, surely must up his game if he is to have any chance of pulling off an unlikely comeback.

Both of this year's finalists are English and a champion is due to be crowned tomorrow.
