Jan Groenendijk is set to lead The Netherlands at the World Draughts Federation (FMJD) World National Teams Championship in Antalya in Turkey.

The world number seven, who has recorded two silver-medal performances at the individual World Championship, is expected to be one of the strongest players to compete at the 10-team tournament.

Also on his team are Wouter Sipma, Martijn Van Ijzendoorn and Jitse Slump.

France’s multiple-time national champion Arnaud Cordier could be a threatening presence for the Dutch title charge.

Kevin Machtelinck and Fidele Nimbi join Cordier in the French side.

Cuba, Azerbaijan, Senegal, Cameroon, Lithuania, Italy, Poland and Latvia are also on the entry list, with a total of 37 players expected to compete.

Russia and Belarus are suspended from FMJD events because of the war in Ukraine.

Competition starts tomorrow, with the first and second round scheduled to be staged on the first day.

Round nine - the last - is due to be held on May 6.
