The Swiss pairing headed into final round matches as one of four teams at the top of the Group A standings, with Japan, Sweden and Norway.

Paetz and Michel recorded a 9-2 win over South Korea’s Kim Min-ji and Lee Ki-Jeong to improve to a record of seven wins and two losses.

Norway’s Maia and Magnus Ramsfjell matched the record by beating New Zealand 9-1, while Isabella and Rasmus Wranå of Sweden overcame Japan’s Chiaki Matsumura and Yasumasa Tanida 8-5.

The results led to Paetz and Michel finishing top of the standings due to their superior draw shot challenge over the Swedish and Norwegian teams.

The pair clinched direct qualification to the semi-finals, with Sweden and Norway entering the playoffs.

"It feels really good, I think we just played our best game of the week, so that was a good win and we’re happy," Paetz said.

"We’re also happy about qualifying direct - happy feelings, happy faces right now."

Scotland were confirmed as Group B winners, with Scotland's Eve Muirhead and Bobby Lammie completing the round robin on a perfect record of nine wins.

Muirhead and Lammie won 10-2 against Turkey in the morning session, before beating Spain 10-3.

Canada and Germany clinched the two playoff positions, following wins in their final two round robin matches.

Canada’s Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant ended second with a record of eight wins and one defeat, while Pia-Lisa Schoell and Klaudius Harsch were third on six victories and three losses.

The winners of the playoff match between Canada and Norway will face hosts Switzerland in the semi-finals, while Scotland await the winners of the contest between Sweden and Germany.

New Zealand and Turkey have been relegated after finishing bottom of their respective groups.

England face Finland in one of two relegation playoffs tomorrow, with Spain and South Korea contesting the second.
