Lima 2019 Parapan American Games medallist María Teresa Restrepo was one of Colombia’s starring performers as the host nation claimed every title on offer on the opening day of the Para Deportivo National Shooting Open in Nilo.

Restrepo secured the women’s 10 metres pistol SH1 title, with Costa Rica’s Paola Arana taking silver.

"I am happy, happy to win the first pistol medal in this Open," Restrepo said.

"Happy, content and I hope to win many more medals."

In the men’s event, Carlos Agudelo, Deiber Arredondo and Edison Hurtado claimed gold, silver and bronze to sweep the podium for Colombia.

Wilmer Pulgarín handed Colombia another triumph following his showing in the men’s 50m rifle three positions SH1, while Carlos Garletti put Brazil on the podium by finishing second.

Alexander López, another Colombian national, achieved the bronze medal in the event.

The 10m mixed air rifle SH2 final took place next, with César Durán of Colombia taking the title and Argentina’s María Rodríguez producing a silver-worthy performance.

Colombia’s Jerson Mejía secured the bronze.

The hosts also took the gold and silver in the 10m team air pistol SH1 discipline.

The trio of Edwin Mora, John Castro and Jaime Acosta outscored Arredondo, Agudelo and Ricardo Leon to claim the final title of the day.
